Our Expertise
at Clark Counseling, PLLC

Therapy for Individuals
At Clark Counseling, we deeply understand that everyone needs a confidante, a mirror to their own selves. We provide an empathetic, non-judgmental space where you are encouraged to focus on your own journey, your ‘shot’, rather than get lost in the noise of life’s court. Our aim is to help you escape the confines of others’ expectations and perceptions, as we believe that living in someone else’s head is the most dangerous place to be. We are dedicated to nurturing and fostering your growth, helping you become the best version of you.

Therapy for Couples & Families
We extend our individual-centric philosophy to our work with couples and families, recognizing that healthy relationships are key to a fulfilling life. By fostering open communication and understanding within family units or couples, we help each individual gain a deeper understanding of themselves through the lens of their relationships. Our aim is to help each member of a family or a couple respect their own and others’ unique paths of growth, thus nurturing a harmonious and understanding environment that supports everyone in becoming the best version of themselves.

Therapy for Groups
Our group therapy sessions offer a unique blend of shared experiences, mutual support, and opportunities for personal growth. We believe that the strength of group therapy lies in the collective journey, where individuals find solace in knowing they are not alone in their struggles. We foster a non-judgmental and supportive environment where every participant feels empowered to share their story, and in turn, becomes a part of others’ support systems. With Clark Counseling, group therapy is not just about collective healing, but also about fostering a supportive community that aids in individual development.

My Approach to Therapy
I am not a cookie therapist or the version of therapist you’re probably familiar with on the TV. I’m a goal-oriented therapist who focuses on establishing a plan to get the things that you desire for yourself and your life.
Through counseling, we take the steps to reach those goals.
It’s a waste of time, money and energy for a person to see me every week, express their feelings and I just nod and agree and ask you “How do you feel about that?”
I will challenge your thoughts in a way that encourages you to change negative and unhealthy thought patterns for the benefit of your self growth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have a mental illness to seek or get therapy?
No.
Do I have to have a mental health diagnosis to get therapy?
This depends, for insurance purposes a diagnosis has to be present for insurance to cover therapy. The intake and assessment helps us to recognize and understand the presenting concern that brought you to therapy. That is often translated into a formal diagnosis but we believe in thorough psychoeducation to explain all diagnoses and treatment prior to service
Can I bring my family to therapy with me?
Yes, we offer family therapy; however you do not have to participate in family therapy to welcome other family members into your individual sessions. You are in control of your sessions and who is present. Some people invite others into their sessions to provide further insight into their situations or goals. Sometimes individuals are invited into sessions to serve as an advocate or accountability partner. There are steps that prepare us to conduct a session this way but it is available and we welcome it.
Can my spouse sit in my individual session?
It is entirely up to you; we will take steps to ensure confidentiality and create an agreement for practices outside of the session but it is possible.
Can you see multiple people from the same family and NOT do a family session?
Yes and we abide by all HIPPA and confidentiality rules, laws and ethics.
What if I’ve seen a therapist before, can I come to you?
Yes. Therapy is your choice and you have the right to terminate and assume services when and where you choose. Out of respect for your past therapist and to gain further understanding of your situation and choice we may discuss the reasons for leaving a proper termination protocol; however we welcome you in the Clark Counseling Family with open arms and hope to be able to help.
